Middleton Lodge Estate Wedding | Rebecca & Joe
A Middleton Lodge Estate wedding is the kind of celebration that feels both elevated and effortless. Set within 200 acres of privately owned countryside near Richmond, Middleton Lodge is one of the most sought-after North Yorkshire wedding venues, known for its seamless blend of historic charm and contemporary design.
As someone who lives in Scotland, not far from North Yorkshire, and has become a UK wedding photographer, Middleton Lodge is a venue I would love to return to time and time again, and not just for its beauty in the english countryside, but for how naturally a wedding day flows across the estate. Rebecca and Joe’s wedding captured everything that makes a Middleton Lodge wedding so special: thoughtful planning, intentional spaces, and a celebration that unfolded from quiet morning moments to a vibrant night in the Walled Garden.
Middleton Lodge Wedding Venue in North Yorkshire
Middleton Lodge Estate offers couples the rare ability to host an entire wedding day without ever feeling static. Each part of the estate has its own atmosphere, allowing the day to evolve naturally while remaining completely cohesive. From the elegance of the Main House to the modern architecture of The Fig House, Middleton Lodge is a venue that feels curated rather than staged, which is perfect for couples who value experience as much as aesthetics.
Bridal Preparations in the Middleton Lodge Main House
Rebecca began her wedding morning in the Main House at Middleton Lodge, The main bridal suite is a light-filled Georgian space that feels more like a private home than a hotel. Soft neutral tones, tall windows, and original architectural details make this one of the most beautiful getting-ready locations in North Yorkshire.
From a photographer’s perspective, the Main House offers calm energy and exceptional natural light, which is ideal for documenting the quieter, emotional moments before the day truly begins. I was able to find endless angles of the garden ceremony spot from the main house windows and had numerous backdrops around the house for photos of the wedding day details, like her jewelry, shoes and her favorite perfume bottle.
The Groomsmen were able to take portraits in the garden of the main house of middleton Lodge while the bridesmaids were able to watch them from the first floor bridal suite overlooking the yard. The bridesmaids took photos in the bridal suite and stunning staircase within the main house, just before walking outside for the garden ceremony in the back garden of the house.
Outdoor Ceremony at the Garden Marquee, Middleton Lodge
The ceremony took place outdoors beside the Garden Marquee, just steps from the Main House. With sweeping lawns and the surrounding estate as a backdrop, the setting felt intimate yet expansive. The bride had both of her brothers walk her down the aisle and it was one of the sweetest moments of the day.
Outdoor ceremonies at Middleton Lodge are always memorable. The open landscape, fresh air, and sense of privacy create an atmosphere that feels grounded and deeply personal, which is also one of the many reasons couples choose this North Yorkshire wedding venue.
Cocktail Hour at The Fig House in the Walled Garden
Following the ceremony and the really fun confetti toss that the guests lined up to do, the bride and groom walked outside from the main house to the back garden of middleton Lodge for drinks and canapes and to give everyone hugs. They also were able to take a few family photos with their closest family members and friends before sneaking off to take a few couples photos themselves. We took a few in the front of The Main House of Middleton Lodge, as it is such an iconic estate and floral design around the front door, and then we wandered over to the walled garden and fig house for more portraits and for them to see their wedding reception space all decorated before the guests walked over as well.
guests made their way to The Fig House for an extended cocktail hour within the Walled Garden. This part of the estate feels modern, relaxed, and social, and is a perfect space for transitioning from ceremony to celebration. The walk itself was beautiful and perfect for the kids attending to stretch their legs as well.
Guests mingled between indoors and out, drinks in hand, as the garden framed every conversation. The Fig House is designed for movement and connection, and it truly comes alive during moments like this.
A Fig House Reception with an Indoor-Outdoor Feel
Dinner was served inside The Fig House, with large windows left open to the Walled Garden. As guests ate, warm light filtered through greenery, creating a soft, atmospheric setting that felt effortlessly elegant.
Florals by The Wilde complemented the space beautifully. They were organic, natural, and perfectly scaled to the architecture. With planning handled seamlessly by Middleton Lodge’s in-house team, the evening flowed with ease, allowing Rebecca and Joe to be fully present.
Evening Dancing at The Fig House with Groove Allstars Band
Just before the evening celebrations began, Rebecca changed into a second dress, that was modern, minimal, and made for dancing. It was an easy option to change in one of the local lodgings that middleton lodge has, as most of her guests were staying on the property that night. She was able to simply walk to one of the rooms within the walled garden and walk back through the garden to the party with her closest girlfriends.
After a few couple portraits in the garden with Joe, he and Rebecca rejoined the party and continued to laugh and have the time of their lives making memories with their best friends. There was even a special photo presentation made that made everyone tear up looking back on their childhood memories.
Then As night fell, Groove Allstars Band filled The Fig House with energy, drawing guests onto the dance floor and back out into the Walled Garden under the stars.
Late-night celebrations at Middleton Lodge are never confined to one space. Guests danced, mingled, and moved freely between indoors and out, as that is one of the most magical aspects of weddings at this estate. Everyone could easily walk to their lodgings on the property as well.

Charlotte and Tommy were such a fun couple and their day was a reflection of that! They now live in London but wanted to find a wedding venue closer to where they both grew up in Yorkshire and were able to find a romantic venue called The Tithe Barn. It is a newly renovated barn located in the heart of Skipton, overlooking the stunning Bolton Abbey in the distance. They also have a full kitchen that is open with floor to ceiling glass walls so the guests can admire the chefs prepping the food, which is exquisite from the in house Cripps & Co. catering team.
After the ceremony in the main room of The Tithe Barn, we walked around the property to take portraits before heading back inside to be greeted with cocktails and hugs from all of their loved ones. There was confetti, sentimental speeches, delicious desert and then the dancing began. DJ Tom Byrne, from Wedding Jam, was amazing! He did a phenomenal job of keeping the party alive with everything from disco to soul to rap! In the middle of dance party the venue started up the wood flamed pizza ovens for guests to enjoy as they danced the night away! Truly this day was a memorable one and full of love. There’s nothing like a dance party into the night with all of your favorite people in the middle of the English countryside on your wedding day. x
