Maxwells Trading Chicago Wedding Rehearsal Dinner | Chicago Wedding Photographer
Maxwells Trading Chicago Wedding Rehearsal Dinner | Stephanie and Sam | Chicago Wedding Photographer
There are certain wedding weekends where everything feels aligned, from the light, the pacing, the people, the style, and Stephanie and Sam’s rehearsal dinner at Maxwells Trading Chicago was one of those rare evenings, where intention showed up in every detail of their intimate wedding event.
From a photographer’s point of view, it was immediately clear why a Maxwells Trading Chicago wedding, or in this case, a rehearsal dinner, feels so compelling. The space allows moments to unfold naturally, and when you add impeccable style and a skyline backdrop, the result is effortless and cinematic.
A Modern Chicago Venue That Holds Both Style and Story
Maxwells Trading’s upstairs private spaces feel quietly elevated, truly never loud, never overdone. Clean architectural lines, warm textures, and a natural flow between indoor and outdoor areas create an environment where guests settle in and stay present. For couples planning a Downtown Chicago rehearsal dinner, this matters. It means the night isn’t rushed. Conversations linger. Laughter builds slowly. From behind the camera, those are the moments that photograph with honesty and depth.
A Bridal Fashion Moment Worth Noticing
Stephanie’s rehearsal dinner look was a perfect reflection of the evening itself: fashion-forward, understated, and deeply intentional. She wore a rehearsal dinner outfit from Attersee, styled with a timeless piece from Heirlome, striking a balance between modern tailoring and heirloom-level elegance. The look felt editorial yet wearable, which is exactly the kind of outfit that photographs beautifully in motion, whether framed against the rooftop greenery or the Chicago skyline beyond.
From a photographer’s perspective, it was one of those rare outfits that doesn’t ask for attention, but commands it anyway. Effortless, confident, and entirely her.
Rooftop Garden Portraits Overlooking the Chicago Skyline
As the light softened, Stephanie and Sam stepped onto the rooftop garden for portraits, which was one of the most visually striking moments of the evening. The Maxwells Trading rooftop and upstairs space offers an ideal combination of lush greenery and uninterrupted city views. It’s a dream setting for wedding portraits: intimate enough to feel private, expansive enough to feel iconic. This rooftop is where a lot of their ingredients come from and their overall ethos of being a more thoughtful and sustainable restaurant and business in Chicago.
these rooftop portraits really show why couples planning a Maxwells Trading Chicago wedding or rehearsal dinner should build photo time into their event here. The light, the scale, the stillness, it all works so well.
A Menu That Mirrors the Meaning of the Night
The tone of the evening was grounded, warm, and unhurried, thanks in large part to the food. Led by Chef-Partner Erling Wu-Bower and Executive Chef Chris Jung, finalists for the James Beard “Best Chef: Great Lakes” award in 2025, the menu blended Asian influences with deeply American traditions. Their approach reflects their own stories, with Erling, the son of a Chinese immigrant and a Louisiana native, and Chris, born in Korea and raised between New York City and the D.C. suburbs.
From behind the camera, you can feel when a room is settled. This was one of those nights, where guests leaned in, stayed longer, and let the evening unfold naturally.
Why Maxwells Trading Chicago Works for Intimate Weddings
Stephanie and Sam’s rehearsal dinner felt like a reminder of how powerful smaller celebrations can be. For couples and photographers alike. Maxwells Trading Chicago offers:
Private upstairs spaces ideal for rehearsal dinners or intimate weddings
A rooftop garden perfect for portraits at golden hour and after dark
Seamless indoor and outdoor flow overlooking downtown Chicago
A refined backdrop that enhances, rather than competes with, personal style
It’s easy to imagine a full Maxwells Trading Chicago wedding taking place here, from the intimate ceremony, award winning dinner, and celebration all in one beautifully considered space.
A Thoughtful Team Behind the Scenes
The evening unfolded with ease thanks to Krystle Erler from the team at The Walden Chicago, whose planning approach allowed the night to breathe. Nothing felt forced or overly produced, which is exactly the kind of environment where real moments happen. As a photographer, venues like Maxwells Trading are a gift. They allow space for observation, for nuance, for images that feel lived-in rather than staged.
Stephanie and Sam’s rehearsal dinner at Maxwells Trading Chicago wasn’t about spectacle, but it was truly about presence, style, and connection. Between the rooftop skyline, the thoughtful cuisine, and Stephanie’s effortlessly chic fashion moment, the evening felt like the perfect beginning.
For couples dreaming of a Maxwells Trading Chicago wedding or an intimate Downtown Chicago rehearsal dinner, this modern factory venue offers something rare: beauty, calm, and the space to tell your story, both honestly and beautifully.

Gilt Bar Wedding | Jennifer & Michael’s Romantic Wedding Reception
Jennifer and Michael’s wedding day at GIlt Bar was the kind that feels effortlessly cinematic, intimate, candlelit and layered with character. Their celebration was a true Gilt Bar Wedding Chicago experience, tucked inside one of the most atmospheric speakeasy spaces in the city. From the moment guests stepped into Gilt Bar in River North, it was clear this wasn’t going to be a traditional ballroom wedding. It was going to be moody, romantic and distinctly Chicago.
As a Chicago wedding photographer, I’m always drawn to venues with personality and spaces that photograph beautifully without needing to be completely transformed. Gilt Bar is exactly that kind of unique venue.
Why Gilt Bar is the Perfect Downtown Chicago Wedding Venue
Located in the heart of Chicago, Gilt Bar is one of River North’s most iconic cocktail bars. With its gold accents, exposed brick, velvet textures, candlelight, and ambient glow, it offers an atmosphere that feels both historic and editorial. For couples searching for a unique downtown Chicago cocktail bar wedding venue, Gilt Bar provides built-in character that elevates every detail.
Unlike traditional wedding venues, Gilt Bar delivers:
- A prime River North location in downtown Chicago
- Moody, romantic lighting ideal for photography
- An intimate layout perfect for meaningful celebrations
- A renowned cocktail experience your guests will remember
- A hidden speakeasy space for private events
The venue feels layered and textured, with every corner offering depth, warmth, and personality. For couples planning a Gilt Bar Wedding Chicago, the aesthetic does so much of the storytelling naturally.
The Library Speakeasy: An Intimate Setting Within Gilt Bar
Jennifer and Michael chose to host their wedding reception party in “The Library,” the hidden speakeasy within Gilt Bar. Renting out The Library created a private, elevated experience while still embracing the vibrant energy of River North just outside the doors.
The space feels like stepping into another era. Rich wood tones, bookshelves lining the walls, dim lighting, and flickering candles created a romantic ambiance that required very little additional décor. Their ceremony unfolded in an intimate glow of candlelight as guests gathered close, and every laugh and tear was amplified by the cozy setting.
For couples who want a wedding that feels exclusive yet effortlessly stylish and is based within the heart of downtown Chicago, The Library at Gilt Bar is truly an exceptional choice.
Editorial Wedding Details in the Heart of River North
Jennifer began the day surrounded by her closest friends, excitement filling the room. Her hair, styled by Tamara Holden Hair, was polished yet soft, with romantic waves that complemented the mood of the venue. Tamara’s styling enhanced Jennifer’s natural beauty while maintaining a timeless elegance that photographed beautifully in Gilt Bar’s warm lighting. Her makeup was also stunning and was done by Jose Deleon.
Floral Designs by Dusk Lily Floral embraced the rich atmosphere of the space. Deep-toned blooms paired with layered greenery added texture without overpowering the room. The arrangements felt organic and refined, enhancing the speakeasy aesthetic rather than competing with it. Candlelight reflecting off glassware and florals created a setting that felt straight out of an editorial feature.
One of the reasons I loved photographing this Gilt Bar Wedding Reception is how the venue transforms after sunset. As the evening progresses, the golden tones deepen, shadows add dimension, and every image feels cinematic. The combination of warm interior lighting and the urban energy of downtown Chicago outside makes portrait opportunities endless.
I was able to stroll around downtown with Jennifer and Michael just before they started their wedding reception and joined all of their guests at Gilt Bar. They were able to slip away briefly for portraits along River North’s iconic streets on the Chicago River. The glow of the city lights contrasted beautifully with the intimacy of their reception space. That blend of historic architecture and vibrant downtown atmosphere is what makes a Gilt Bar wedding feel distinctly Chicago.
A Cocktail Bar Wedding Experience Guests Will Never Forget
As the reception began, Gilt Bar’s reputation as one of Chicago’s most beloved cocktail bars truly shined. Signature drinks flowed, guests mingled in cozy seating areas, and the dance floor felt energetic yet intimate. The layout naturally encourages connection, as there is no cavernous ballroom separating guests from the celebration.
Choosing a cocktail bar wedding venue like Gilt Bar allows couples to prioritize experience. The food, the drinks, the ambiance and every element feels curated and elevated. For modern couples who value atmosphere as much as tradition, a Gilt Bar Wedding Chicago offers the perfect balance of sophistication and warmth.
Planning Your Own Gilt Bar Wedding in Chicago
If you’re considering hosting your wedding at Gilt Bar in Chicago, here’s why it stands out so much to me:
- Built-in ambiance requiring minimal décor
- Intimate speakeasy option with The Library
- Prime downtown Chicago location in River North
- Exceptional cocktail and dining experience
- Romantic lighting that photographs beautifully
Jennifer and Michael’s wedding was a reflection of who they are, which was stylish, thoughtful, and deeply connected. Their decision to celebrate at Gilt Bar created a setting that felt immersive and unforgettable from start to finish.
As a wedding photographer who photographs in Chicago often, I’m continually inspired by venues that offer authenticity and character. A Gilt Bar Wedding Chicago celebration delivers both. For couples dreaming of an intimate cocktail bar wedding with rich ambiance and downtown sophistication, Gilt Bar is truly one of Chicago’s most unique bar wedding venues for a chill couple who just wants to enjoy an intimate evening with loved ones celebrating their love. x

Chicago Cultural Center Wedding | Rachel and Joe | Downtown Chicago Wedding Photographer
Chicago Cultural Center Wedding | Rachel and Joe | Downtown Chicago Wedding Photographer
Rachel and Joe had their wedding ceremony and wedding reception at the historic Chicago Cultural Center in Downtown Chicago. The couple met at The University of CHicago, so it only made sense that they were married in such a special place to them both. I absolutely loved documenting this wedding day on both 35mm film and digital formats.
The Chicago Cultural Center is truly such a beautiful historic landmark in the heart of downtown chicago. It was opened in the 1800’s and located just across the street from Millennium park and off of Michigan avenue. The Chicago Cultural center not only holds many exhibits, with free admission, but they also have many spaces that are perfect for wedding days. The two main spaces for wedding ceremonies or receptions there are in the G.A.R. Hall and Rotunda or the Preston Bradley Hall’s Tiffany dome. And of course, endless corridors and stairwells of beautiful tiling, stained glass windows and ornate details throughout the entire building, which are a perfect backrdrop for bridal or wedding portraits.
Rachel started her wedding day getting ready with friends and close family at The Pendry Hotel, which is just a few blocks north of The Chicago Cultural Center on Michigan avenue. Rachel’s wedding dress and veil were from the incredibly talented dress designer, Danielle Frankel. Her wedding shoes were vintage from American duchess and had a beautiful nod to the historic time period of the building they were married in. Rachel also had some of the best wedding Hair and wedding Makeup artists in Chicago do her hair and makeup, Shannon O’Brien and Megan Schnell. Joe also had a custom suit made from Bode, an incredible designer based in New York City.
They had a first look at the hotel and then joined all of their friends in the lobby of the hotel to walk down Michigan avenue towards the wedding venue. Once The couple arrived at The Chicago Cultural Center, I photographed the bridal party on the entrance staircase both outside and inside the lobby by the welcome center. After thee bridal party headed up to the bridal room, where everyone was tucked away before the ceremony began, I strolled through the Chicago Cultural Center with Rachel and Joe for their wedding portraits.
For the entire ceremony and reception decor setup, Cygnet Events and Design executed all of the wedding planning and design work, with the guidance of Rachel’s impeccable taste through her mood boards. The Cremony was draped with deep red cloths, vivid red roses and lots of candles and dark ribbons to create a romantic backdrop. Rachel actually came up with the theme that was called “Gloopy Bacchanal”, which focused on surrealism, whimsy and romance. Rachel, as she is an architect, was able to fully design the lace pattern of their custom chuppah that they were married under and said their vows under during their wedding ceremony. Rachel also had her rabbi from her childhood hometown, who her family is close to and she has known her whole life, travel up from Georgia to marry them in chicago.
After the ceremony, they had a stunning cocktail hour overlooking chicago. I love when all of the family and bridal portraits are taken before the cocktail hour, so the bride and groom can fully enjoy their guests and just let everyone hug them and congratulate them and be fully present with their wedding guests with a drink in hand. While the Cygnet Events team, The florists from bottles and Bouquets, along with the caterers at paramount events and the rentals team at arcana vintage rentals turned the grand upstairs hall into the wedding reception and dance floor space, the guests were slowly escorted back into the hall for dinner.
Rachel and Joe had their cake cutting in the middle of the dance floor, followed by their first dance and speeches while the dinner courses started coming to all of the tables. For their dessert table, They had an epic display of multiple wedding cakes of all shapes and sizes and different designs, that matched their romantic theme of ribbons, florals and vintage icing designs. All of the cakes were designed and baked by Sugar Fixe in CHicago. To end the wedding day, rachel and joe danced to the tunes of one of chicago’s best DJ’s, Matt ROan, with all of their closest friends and family members in the middle of one of the most beautiful historic buildings in all of downtown chicago. This wedding day was so beautiful and I’m so honored to have been able to photograph all of the lovely memories from their wedding day for these two lovely and creative soulmates.

A Nobu Hotel Wedding Chicago & Gibson’s Italia Wedding to Remember
As someone who has been a Chicago wedding photographer for around a decade, there are certain days that stay with you forever and Danica and Jarrad’s wedding day at Nobu Hotel and Gibson’s Italia was one of them. From their morning preparations at the Nobu Hotel in the west loop to their private ceremony and reception at Gibson’s Italia, that overlooked downtown Chicago, every moment was filled with love, laughter, and breathtaking views of the city.
And If you are looking for more Chicago luxury wedding venues in Downtown Chicago with Skyline views, you can explore more inspiration Here and here.
Morning Magic: Getting Ready at Nobu Hotel
I arrived at the West Loop Chicago wedding hotel suites at Nobu Hotel to find Danica and Jarrad in separate suites, each perfectly styled with panoramic views of downtown Chicago. Inside of their Chicago wedding weekend hotel, Danica radiated elegance in her Alex Perry gown paired with Amina Muaddi heels, her makeup and hair flawless thanks to Kelsey Altmann and Leslie Hoffman. Jarrad looked effortlessly cool in his sleek, fitted tux from The Black Tux, completing his look with a stunning ring from Ren Private Jewelers, who is honestly one of the best jewelers in all of Chicago.
Capturing the anticipation, laughter, and quiet moments before their ceremony was an absolute dream. The natural light pouring through the floor-to-ceiling windows created the perfect setting for timeless, editorial-style photographs. Nobu Hotel is one of my favorite West Loop wedding hotels for couples wanting a modern, editorial aesthetic in Chicago.
Ceremony and Reception with Skyline Views at Gibson’s Italia
After their morning at Nobu Hotel, we headed to Gibson’s Italia, where Danica and Jarrad’s wedding truly came alive. They booked The Rooftop, a private floor that overlooks the Chicago River and downtown skyline. With a retractable roof, cozy fireplace, and stylish lounge furniture, the space was both luxurious and intimate, a perfect fit for this couple’s vision.
Their ceremony (and entire day) was flawlessly planned and executed by Bridget Mary Weddings, with lush floral arrangements by Thistle and Plume that complemented and framed the chic, city-view space. Watching them exchange vows against the backdrop of the city skyline was one of the most photogenic moments of my career in Chicago.
Not only is the lighting perfect for natural light portrait photography from every angle, but if you have any guests travelling into Chicago for your wedding day, Gibson’s Italia really has the best view of the city from their private rooftop room. Even the rain that happened a bit later on this wedding day, was so lovely to see on the ceiling windows and only made the evening part of their wedding day more romantic, and of course it didn’t affect the beautiful views of Downtown Chicago.
Cocktail Hour and Reception Highlights
Guests mingled during the cocktail hour while enjoying the curated menu by Gibson’s Italia. As the evening progressed, DJ One Chance and saxophonist DG Sax filled the room with energy, keeping everyone dancing late into the night. I had so much fun capturing spontaneous moments, the laughter, the joy, and those quiet glances between Danica and Jarrad that only a couple in love shares.
Why This Wedding Day Was Truly Special
From the Nobu Hotel wedding morning in Chicago to the spectacular Gibson’s Italia wedding evening, every detail of Danica and Jarrad’s day was intentional and luxurious. As their photographer, I was honored to capture moments that reflected their personalities, their style, and their love for one another.
Whether you are dreaming of Downtown Chicago skyline views, elegant suites overlooking the Chicago River, or a private reception with panoramic city vistas, this wedding showcases why both Nobu Hotel and Gibson’s Italia are top choices for Chicago couples seeking a modern, luxury celebration. x

Why Nobu Hotel Is One of the Best Chicago Wedding Hotels
As a Chicago wedding photographer, I’ve photographed getting-ready moments in countless hotels across the city, and Nobu Hotel consistently stands out as one of the best Chicago wedding hotels for couples planning a luxury celebration. Located in the heart of the West Loop, Nobu combines refined design with a calm, elevated atmosphere that feels intentional from the moment you walk in.
For couples searching for West Loop wedding inspiration, Nobu Hotel offers something incredibly rare. The suites feel spacious and serene while still showcasing sweeping views of downtown Chicago. Floor-to-ceiling windows allow natural light to pour in throughout the morning, creating ideal conditions for editorial-style portraits, detail shots, and candid moments with your wedding party. From a photography standpoint, the clean lines, neutral palette, and modern textures ensure that images feel timeless rather than trendy.
A Nobu Hotel wedding Chicago experience also offers ease. Having both partners get ready on-site keeps the timeline smooth and stress-free, especially when transitioning to a downtown Chicago ceremony and reception. Danica and Jarrad were able to fully relax into their morning, sharing meaningful moments with their closest people while the city buzzed quietly below them.
If you are planning a Chicago wedding and want a wedding hotel that elevates your experience visually and emotionally, Nobu Hotel is an exceptional choice. It is perfect for couples who value intentional design, seamless logistics, and a luxury setting that photographs beautifully from every angle.
Why Gibson’s Italia Is a Top Chicago River Wedding Venue
for both a Ceremony and Reception
When couples ask me for recommendations for Chicago luxury wedding venues, Gibson’s Italia is always at the top of my list. There are very few venues that allow you to host your ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, and dancing all in one space while still feeling dynamic, elevated, and distinctly Chicago. A Gibson’s Italia wedding delivers exactly that.
Set directly along the Chicago River, Gibson’s Italia offers panoramic skyline views that feel iconic without being overwhelming. Danica and Jarrad chose The Rooftop, a private floor designed for hosting unforgettable events. With a retractable roof, fireplace for cooler months, stylish lounge seating, and state-of-the-art audiovisual capabilities, the space adapts seamlessly to every part of the wedding day. From a photographer’s perspective, this flexibility is invaluable.
Hosting both the ceremony and reception in one venue keeps the day flowing naturally. Guests remain engaged, transitions feel effortless, and there is more time for meaningful moments instead of travel. As daylight fades into evening, the glow of the city reflects off the river, creating an atmosphere that feels cinematic and intimate all at once.
What truly elevates a Gibson’s Italia wedding ceremony and reception is the guest experience. The dedicated staff, exceptional cuisine, and thoughtful service allow couples to be fully present while knowing every detail is handled with care. Whether you are envisioning a modern rooftop ceremony, an elegant cocktail hour overlooking the river, or a high-energy reception with downtown Chicago as your backdrop, Gibson’s Italia delivers at every level.
For couples dreaming of a refined, unforgettable celebration, Gibson’s Italia is one of the most stunning Chicago river wedding venues available. It is the kind of space that enhances every emotion and every photograph, making it an incredible choice for a wedding day that feels both luxurious and deeply personal.

Wildman BT Wedding Chicago| Raleigh + Andrew | Chicago Wedding Photographer | BIRCH DESIGN STUDIO | REVEL DECOR | KIM KASSAs COUTure
Truly, Raleigh and Andrew were one of the most energetic couples that I’ve photographed, in the best way possible. From the getting ready to the partying at the end of the night at Wildman BT, these two really had endless joy, incredible personalities and all of the dance moves on top! They both started their mornings at The Hoxton Hotel in the West Loop neighborhood of Chicago. The Hoxton has a perfect apartment suite that include a kitchen, living room and different combined rooms, which are perfect for a morning spread of food and drinks and plenty of space for all of the hair and makeup artist teams. Raleigh had a larger bridal party, and it felt like a proper movie production or runway set up. I love it! Emily Katz, of Goldust Woman was the team lead on the hair and the makeup team was from Dani Garcia. They did such an amazing job on all of the bridal party, as always! When I lived in Chicago full time, I always trusted Emily to do my hair at Goldust Studios. She’s so incredibly talented with all styles of hair. Anyways, back to the wedding. Raleigh gave each of her bridesmaids Air Force Ones, which was what she also changed into later in the day during the late night dancing! Raleigh’s dress was Kim Kassas Couture and her shoes were the Amora Bridal Pump from Sophia Webster! All in all, this bridal prep morning at The Hoxton was a beautiful one!
Raleigh and Andrew had their first look on one of the outdoor balcony’s of The Hoxton Hotel, overlooking the Chicago skyline. We took a few portraits of them and then headed over to Wildman BT, where both their ceremony and reception were going to take place! I love that Raleigh and Andrew wanted to arrive at the venue early, because they were able to have drinks with their bridal party, take family and group photos before the ceremony even started and just hang out together in a lounge area before the guests started arriving. Wildman BT was the perfect blank slate for Birch Design Studio and Revel Decor to create an immaculately designed and custom space for Raleigh and Andrew’s wedding day. The entrance was one of the most unique doorways I’ve ever seen. They had a lovely vibrant blue color as a focus and it mesmerized me. It was such a consistent color in the floral arrangements, the lighting, the entrance and the table setting settings. I loved that they choose this vibrant color, as it stood out so well against the natural toned palette of the stunning renovated warehouse style venue that is Wildman BT.
Since they did all of the portraits before the ceremony, as soon as they said “I Do” they walk off the center stage into the crowd and went straight into their first dance! The party started right away! Everyone did a bit of dancing, hugging and congratulating before sitting down to have a formal dinner, by Limelight Catering, and to listen to their loved ones give the most heartwarming speeches. Swiftly after the dinner everyone was right back to the dance floor to start the epic late night of dancing! They had an incredibly talented full live band, called The Chicago Players, who are a part of Gold Coast Events. They were on point with every song and no one left the dance floor! Also, Frost Chicago did an amazing job with the professional lighting! It genuinely felt like a club! And it was such a joy to work alongside our friends Aaron and Mike who filmed the wedding day as well, Aaron Bean! Raleigh also quickly changed into her Air Force Ones and they continued to dance the night away. In the end, Wildman BT provided the perfect party atmosphere for Raleigh and Andrew to celebrate becoming husband and wife with all of their friends on the dance floor! x

The Renaissance Chicago Hotel Downtown Wedding | Nika + Vinnie | Assumption Catholic Church | Chicago Wedding Photographer | Destination Wedding Photographer
Nika and Vinnie held their wedding day in the city they grew up in, the lovely city of Chicago. I absolutely love downtown Chicago, so truly loved that their wedding hotel, ceremony and reception were all in the heart of the city, located on the Chicago River. Nika and Vinnie got ready in suites at The Renaissance Hotel and then had their first look in a private courtyard in between two skyscrapers near the hotel. Then they strolled over the bridges and Chicago river walk to spend some time alone and get couple portraits before the rest of their bridal party joined them for bridal party photos. Downtown Chicago has so many lovely textures and backdrops for bridal portraits and the vibe is always a timeless one!
Then we all loaded on the party bus to head over to Assumption Catholic Church for their stunning wedding ceremony. The architecture in this church was so beautiful and has so many historic details. I will never tire of church weddings in historic buildings, specifically catholic churches tend to appreciate the architecture more so. After the ceremony we headed back to The Renaissance Hotel for their cocktail hour and wedding reception. The Cocktail hour was in a room overlooking the Chicago river. The best part about this cocktail hour was that there was a beer pong table set up at the window overlooking the city skyline and everyone was having a ball (pun intended) playing it! Even some of the elder family members gave it a try!
Everyone then went to a larger ballroom upstairs in the hotel for a seated dinner while sweet speeches were being made. There was a DJ, cake cutting and a whole lot of dancing! I love when dance trains break out because it feels like everyone is one big unit and picking up people who are sitting down! It’s a lot of fun to watch! Nika and Vinnie had a buffet of McDonals’s burgers and chicken nuggets for all of their guests and ended their night by feeding each other Mickie Dee’s! What a solid way to end such a beautiful wedding day! x

A Beautiful Design-Led Museum Wedding | Asrai Garden | Savannah Miller Bridal | Varca Bridal | Destination Wedding Photographer| Chicago Wedding Photographer
This design-led wedding day was full of so much love and endless style! Alex chose to get her outfit from the most unique bridal shop, Belle Atelier Bridal, and have the most unique designers to help her create her custom wedding look. The base of her wedding dress was designed by Savannah Miller Bridal and the custom cape and sheer gloves that flowed down to the floor were designed by the incredibly talented Varca Bridal. Sarah Varca is one of my personal favorites, and not just because she designed my custom wedding dress, but I’ve first hand seen how passionate she is about each bride and client she works and it’s so inspiring.
After Alex finished drinking champagne with her best friends in a suite at the Sofitel Hotel, she headed downstairs to see Alex (the groom) for the first time. They wanted to meet casually in the lobby (although, it was still so sweet to see his face in awe of her!) and we roamed around downtown with their best friends before we all headed over to the International Museum of Surgical Science. Once we arrived at the museum we were greeted by the team of Asrai Garden, who had been working for hours on the floral installations on the stairs and floral arrangements in multiple rooms where the ceremony, dessert bar and dancing would be. They are so skilled with transforming a space and their design-led arrangements are always so thoughtful and unique.
Their sweet ceremony took place in a stunning hall filled with marble statues, candlelit light, flowers and loved ones. They also had a beautiful three tiered wedding cake designed and made by Emily from Bon Vivant Cakes. The setting for this wedding allowed for the guests to roam the halls of the surgical museum, and it felt like we were in a noir film. They ended the evening by dancing the night away to her favorite DJ and her dad’s live band. Truly, it was a unforgettable wedding night in a museum! x

Karina and Matt started their elopement in downtown Chicago by doing a champagne toast in their suite at The Peninsula Hotel on Michigan Avenue. After they opened a few gifts, Matt saw Karina in her dress for the first time, they headed down Michigan Avenue for a stroll to meet the officiant and say “I do!”
Karina had a beautiful bouquet of jewel toned flowers that matched her chic and jewel toned green dress. I loved how minimal yet beautiful it was! Once we met up with the officiant at the Fourth Presbyterian Church, she led them in their vows and exchanging of rings. After they committed to spend the rest of their life together in the stunning church courtyard downtown, they signed their papers and were officially newlyweds!
We took a few more portraits in the courtyard and then strolled back down to The Peninsula Hotel, where we parted ways and they continued onto a beautiful and private evening together. I honestly love when couples do what feels right to them on their wedding day.
All of this to say, if you want to wait and spend your day with your loved ones, then do that, because it’s important to you and that definitely matters. And in the same vain, if you want to take your next step into married life with just your fiancé by your side, then do it! either way should be celebrated and I am here for all of it! I personally eloped to St. Lucia this past November with my husband and can really appreciate this kind of wedding day as well as the larger ones, because we also still want to have a larger wedding with all of our family and friends in the years to come!
I truly loved how romantic this day was and am so grateful for every couple who asks me to document their day, no matter how large or intimate! x
